HP Smart Tank Plus 650 Printhead Replacement
Replacing a printhead in the HP Smart Tank 650 printer series is essential when the printheads are damaged or no longer functioning correctly. Start by ensuring the printer is powered on and the ink levels are at least halfway filled. Close the output tray, then open the front and printhead access doors. Wait until the carriage moves to the center and becomes silent. Next, push the blue latch to reveal the red indicator and release the latch.
Depending on the control panel display, remove either the Tri-color or Black printhead. Carefully take the replacement printhead from its package, removing the orange plug and plastic tape without touching the contacts, ink nozzles, and ports.
Hold the new printhead by its sides and slide it into the corresponding slot until it snaps into place. If needed, repeat this process for the other printhead as indicated on the control panel. Secure the printhead by closing the latch, ensuring it locks into place. Once the printhead is installed, close the printhead access doors. The control panel should display an ‘A,’ and an Alignment Page will print automatically. For touchscreen models, press OK.
Lift the scanner lid and place the Alignment Page print-side down in the top left corner of the scanner glass, then close the lid. To align the printer, press the Start Black Copy button or select Scan on touchscreen models.
After alignment, a message indicating success will appear on the control panel. Confirm by touching OK and then remove and recycle the Alignment Page. This process ensures your HP Smart Tank 650 printer continues to function optimally with properly installed printheads, maintaining print quality and overall printer performance. By following these steps, you can efficiently replace and align the printheads, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
